Batch 41

Formula 19

This was a tough one. Anyone who knows me should know the New York Rangers are my all-time favorite sports team. So I set out to make a Rangers inspired colored bar of soap

I had to make Blue, Red, and White. The blue I had on hand and used before in batch 30something. But for the red, I had to order cosmetic grade mica, and for the white, I had to order titanium dioxide. I have never used either before so it was an experiment

Also never used before was the divided loaf mold. That was easier than I thought. The mistake I made there was I divided the soap by grams, but I only used the weight of the oils. I didn’t account for the weight of the lye water. So I had way more blue than I needed and less white and red. It should work out once I cut the loaf

It wasn’t easy

The red mica kinda went everywhere, I got blue on top of the white and red sections (which will be cut off later) and it may not be perfectly straight lines. We’ll see when I cut it. I have to say that when I removed the divider, it was easy and the colors seemed to keep to themselves

Measuring out the colors. I looked up on a website how much colorant to use for each type. I have mica, iron oxide, and titanium dioxide and they have different ratios to consider. I may have used too much titanium

Some gel happened
Not exactly the colors i was looking for. This happened because I didn’t remove the divider holders. Next time I will lol

Clean-up is going to be fun. Ps it wasn’t too terrible. Glad for the dish washer
