My first attempt at a swirl bar of soap. A few things first
I looked at videos online and saw there is a wire-like thing you can buy to make swirls. I like to think I am creative and I know I am cheap.
With my wallet in mind and the thought I was helping the environment a little. Which is laughable because if you watch my house you think is a hub for ups, usps and fedex, as well as Amazon warehouse with all the deliveries we get in a day, I went off to the store
After dropping off thing 2 at work, I went to a local Dollar General and bought a 12-pack of wire hangers. I used my lineman plyers, and I cut and bent my own swirl bar tool thing. Cost me $2.50. Money save and ups will have 1 less box to shuffle around.
Second, the color was not as green as I hoped. I thought about calling an audible and add more but i wanted to be more scientific and weigh it. Also my oily hands couldn’t open the tiny packet the samples came in.
Third, I should have paid more attention to swirl video. The green was at a thin trace and the unclolored batch was a thicker trace. The uncolored soap seemed to mix right with the green, like it weighed more.
Time will tell how it comes out

A note about Lye. It is a dangerous substance that, for a good reason, every soap-making website will put up caution flags and I’m going to, too. When using lye, always use eye protection and gloves and long sleeves. If you have small children or nosey dogs lock them out of whatever room you are working in. And make sure it’s ventilated. I usually mix it outside on my deck or on the stovetop with the fan on high.
